Dear Haworth residents,

In anticipation of the expected heavy snowfall and frigid temperatures forecast to begin this weekend, please review the following safety guidelines and restrictions. We also ask that you check on your elderly and infirm neighbors to see if they need supplies and help clearing snow. Please report downed power lines and other hazards to the police department.

VEHICLE & TRAVEL

Do not park your vehicle on the street when snow is accumulating or when snow has already covered the road.

There is no overnight parking permitted in Haworth during a weather event. Plows need to be able to clear roadways.

Move your vehicle to an off-street location when snow is forecasted.

Avoid unnecessary travel.  When driving, use extra caution: Remove snow/ice from vehicle prior to driving; use headlights; increase following distance.

Do not throw cleared snow from your driveways and sidewalks into the street

POWER & HEATING

         Use generators outside only

         Check carbon monoxide detectors

         Use space heaters safely

Never use ovens or grills to heat your home

Limit time outdoors for yourselves and your pets

If there is a fire hydrant near your house, help keep it accessible. Clear a wide enough perimeter around the hydrant for firefighters to work, approximately 3 feet all around. Help us so we can help you.

Thank you for your cooperation. Stay safe and warm!
