IMPORTANT Alert from the NJ Division of Taxation

The New Jersey Division of Taxation is aware that residents have recently been receiving phishing text messages that falsely appear to be from our office. These messages may reference tax matters and often include links or urgent prompts to respond.  Please be advised that these messages are NOT from the Division of Taxation. We do not contact taxpayers via text message regarding their tax accounts, refunds, or any other official matter.

We ask that you help us inform your constituents and community members—especially seniors and vulnerable populations—that if they receive such a message:

  • Do not respond
  • Do not click any links
  • Delete the message immediately

Cybersecurity and the protection of taxpayer information are top priorities for the Division. Thank you for your continued support in helping to protect New Jersey taxpayers.
