Dear Residents,

As summer comes to a close, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make this season such a memorable one. From lively community events and outdoor concerts to rec programs and summer pursuits, our town truly came alive with activity and connection. Our DPW kept the town looking bright and beautiful and our volunteers continued to make our community the inclusive and special place that we are known for.

With Fall just around the corner, there's plenty to look forward to in town. For the first time, the Haworth 5k and Haworth Day are happening on the same day. The Rec Commission volunteers and 5k committee are working tirelessly to make this supersized celebration one to remember. Save the Date, Saturday 9/27. Please make sure to sign up to participate in the race or volunteer along the route. It will be a fun day for the whole family.

With school starting again please be mindful of students walking and biking on the roads. And, parents, please reiterate safe cycling and pedestrian safety for your children, and responsible driving for your teens.

Stay tuned to our town website for dates and details on all upcoming events. Let's carry the spirit of community and collaboration into this next season.

Wishing you a smooth transition into fall!

Heather Wasser, Mayor

Mayor and Council

Meetings take place on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays in Borough Hall. For September, meetings are on the 9th and 30th.

Haworth Swim Club

The Haworth Swim Club will be closing on Monday, September 1, at 5:00pm for the season. While we were hoping to extend the season by a week or two, we were not able to staff the time to keep the club open. We are already working on the 2026 to ensure that members have the memorable experience they deserve. We will keep you updated throughout the off-season with any developments.

Haworth DPW

Please note that Grass Pickup will be happening on Tuesday, September 2, instead of Labor Day. Barrels can go out Monday night.

Haworth Public School/NV Demarest

School is back in session! Haworth Public School and NVD Demarest will both begin classes on Wednesday, September 3. Please be mindful of the extra traffic on the roads during opening and closing hours in those locations. Be considerate of your neighbors by not parking in places where it limits access to the streets or driveways. Please note that access to the school fields will be limited during school hours and after-school practices and games.

Haworth Fire Department 9/11 Ceremony

The Annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 11, at 6:00pm at the Haworth Firehouse on Hardenburgh Avenue. All are invited to attend.

Haworth Day and the Haworth 5K

On Saturday, September 27, the Haworth 5K and Haworth Day will take over the downtown! For the first time ever, these enduring Haworth traditions are merging together!

The day begins with the start of the Haworth 5K race at 9:30 am. Haworth Day will follow at Noon and continue to 5:00pm. There will be rides and food and community tables along Terrace Street. Some new features are in the works - more details to come!

For more info on the 5K and to register for the race, please visit their website at https://www.haworthrun.org

Reception is Saturday, September 13, 11:30-1:30, and the paintings will be on display through September. Thanks to the curator for the library’s art exhibits, Susan Chval.
