7/4/2026 storm update

Dear Haworth Neighbors,
The storm that blew through town earlier was fast and furious.
It has wreaked havoc and tremendous damage throughout the borough. Virtually every street is impacted with downed trees, limbs, and/or wires.
We are asking you to stay off the roads for the remainder of the night and tomorrow as best you can. If you must drive, avoid downed wires and do not go around police barricades.
At this time, we are getting varying reports on power restoration. We are on top of it.
If you have lost power, please report to your provider:
Orange & Rockland: 1-877-434-4100
PSE&G: 1-800-436-7734

The DPW is hoping to start clean-up tomorrow but will also need to rely on external companies to assist. This will be a process, and we ask for your patience and cooperation. I assure you the work will be done as quickly as safely possible, but we do not have an ETA yet on cleanup completion.

Additionally, the storm caused a power outage at the Veolia Haworth Treatment Plant. Residents may experience water service disruptions. Veolia is working to switch to backup power to minimize disruption.

Stay safe, and I hope you were able to celebrate the 4th of July safely.
Mayor Heather Wasser
