Happy September and welcome back to school NVD and HPS!!
This was a summer we'll remember. We ricocheted from joyfully celebrating America's 250th to mobilizing as a community to recover from the July 4th storm without missing a beat. That dichotomy reminded me how deserved our community pride is, and how lucky we are to call Haworth home.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make this season such a memorable one. From the reenergized Haworth Swim Club to fun filled days at Haworth Summer Rec Camp; from Midsummer music at Memorial Field to exotic story time adventures at the Library. Once again, we benefit from the energy and creativity of our volunteers and dedicated staff. Of course, this all happens under the umbrella of safety provided us by our Police, Fire, Ambulance and DPW crews.
We love to see the connections made and spirits raised throughout town each summer. Thank you all for your hard work, and thank you to our residents for your enthusiastic participation! We can't wait to see you out and about this fall, continuing the spirit of community and collaboration that made this summer so memorable.
With Fall just around the corner, there's plenty to look forward to in town, and this update reflects how much is still ahead. Please read through it all so you don't miss a thing!
Remember, our borough website is an essential resource you should check often for reminders for dates and details on upcoming events, meetings and useful information.
On a more somber note, for many of us it seems impossible that we're marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks this year. As always, our Haworth Volunteer Fire Department will mark the anniversary at the firehouse with their annual remembrance ceremony. They invite all residents to honor the two Haworth hometown men lost that day, and all of the heroes that answered the call-then and now-together as a community.
Wishing you a warm transition to our cool weather traditions. Stay safe and remember students are back out on foot and bicycles—drive safely!
