7/23/2026 update
Message from the Mayor:
After the recent power outages throughout town, we'd like to remind you that both of our providers offer critical care and life-support assistance programs. If you or someone in your household depends on electricity to operate life-sustaining medical equipment, or has a serious medical condition, you may qualify for special protections through your electric or gas utility company.
Enrollment in these programs can help by:
• Flagging your account as a medical or critical-care customer
• Providing additional notice before a service disconnection
• Offering payment arrangements during a financial hardship
• Connecting you with additional assistance programs
PSE&G:
If you require life-sustaining equipment, or your medical condition could worsen with loss of power, complete the CRITICAL CARE PROGRAM application online by CLICKING HERE.
You will need to provide a doctor's note, hospital discharge paperwork, or paperwork from a Home Hospice Care.
QUESTIONS? Call PSE&G at
1-800-436-7734
Orange & Rockland:
If you or a loved one is on life support, make sure you enroll in the LIFE-SUPPORT EQUIPMENT PROGRAM.
TO ENROLL, call Customer Assistance at 1-877-434-4100 between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays, except holidays. Please have your health care provider's information ready; it's required during the initial sign-up.

Haworth Shade Tree Commission
The HSTC is looking for volunteers!
The Haworth Shade Tree Commission (HSTC) is comprised of town volunteers who help support Haworth’s tree canopy – evaluating Borough trees for pruning or removal, as well as identifying locations for and coordinating the planting of new trees. Any interested resident is invited to email Steve Jureller (ssjureller@gmail.com) or Dina Siciliano (siciliano@haworthnj.org) to learn more. With thoughtful planning, educational outreach, and sustainable practices, we can work together for a greener tomorrow.
Here are a few recent Haworth Shade Tree notes & highlights:
• To report an issue/concern with a town tree, residents can either call Borough Hall (201.384.4785) or use the updated Report a Tree online on the Borough website.
• On Arbor Day (4/24) this year, the HSTC interns met with classes at the Haworth Public School as part of a tree planting celebration (photos can be seen in the photo Gallery on the website).
• A revised Approved Tree List has been posted for residents seeking more information on which trees to plant based on location and desired characteristics.
• A new Champion a Tree form has been included online for residents to celebrate any town trees that might be aesthetically or historically significant.
• Every fall, the town works with the HSTC to coordinate new tree plantings and in 2025, the HSTC coordinated the planting of 20 trees around town.
• In 2024, the HSTC conducted a survey of the trees in the Borough’s green spaces as part of an inventory grant. This will help guide future plantings around town.
• Look for a new HSTC Facebook page coming soon!
•
Lastly, a reminder, all trees in the Borough – both town and
homeowner trees – must be reviewed by the HSTC before removal. If you are
lookin to remove any tree on your property, please contact the Building
Dept.
