2-3-23

Dear Haworth Neighbors,

Somehow it’s already February and before you know it, the tennis courts will be open again for member play and the Swim Club will be filled with swimmers & sunbathers enjoying the rustic oasis right here in town.

But there’s no need to wait for warmer weather to enjoy yourselves with family and friends. The Haworth Municipal Library is the heart of our community—year round. Not only is it a place to borrow and discuss books, it’s a place to attend movie screenings, exercise, see art and photography exhibits, hold meetings, informational programming and more. Then there’s the children’s library: superior year round programming (including Summer & school breaks) that includes story time, book clubs, crafting, coding and music. Always something for everyone. It’s a guarantee that if you ask parents of any age in town where they made some of their first friends, it was at the Haworth Library! So if you’re new to Haworth, do yourself a  favor and stop by. Make sure to check their calendar regularly; the offerings are varied and incredible.

And speaking of upcoming events, there are some fun ones coming through both Haworth Public School and NVD for parents and kids alike. Whether to raise money for graduation festivities or to show off the incredible talent at our schools, please give them your support!

Warmly,

Heather

Please continue to be respectful dog owners and pick up after your dogs, no matter where you walk them in town. Additionally, if you can not carry the bags home with you, please make sure to deposit them in the proper receptacles, which are available throughout the borough. For example, this hollow tree stump on Madison is not a proper receptacle.     Leaving bags creates an unpleasant situation for both the surrounding homeowners and the DPW.

State of New Jersey Updates:

Winter Wellness

New Jerseyans are encouraged to take the necessary precautions to keep themselves and their loved ones healthy throughout the winter. Respiratory viruses, including COVID-19, influenza, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) are currently circulating throughout the state.

Residents are particularly encouraged to stay up-to-date on COVID-19 and flu vaccinations, including receiving the updated bivalent COVID-19 booster when eligible.

Everyone six months of age and older is now eligible for the bivalent COVID-19 vaccinations that target recently circulating Omicron subvariants. COVID-19 vaccines are free to everyone. Find locations offering COVID-19 vaccines and boosters on the COVID-19 Vaccine Finder and Community Calendar.

Flu vaccines, which are often covered by insurers at little to no cost to individuals, can be found at pharmacies, health care provider offices, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), and local health departments. FQHCs and health departments may also offer the flu vaccine at little to no cost for eligible uninsured or underinsured individuals.

Free at-home COVID test kits are available from the federal government and testing is offered for free at certain sites around New Jersey.

Keep children home from school and child care centers if they are feeling unwell. Flu and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (usually called RSV) are impacting schools and child care settings in New Jersey right now.
