Borough of Haworth, New Jersey Parks & Playgrounds Committee

In response to a survey conducted by the Committee last summer and fall of Haworth residents concerning their desires regarding the Park Street playground, new equipment and an enlarged and improved facility were installed this summer. The $100,000+ project was funded by Haworth with a Matching Grant from Bergen County. New equipment especially for the 2 to 5 year olds included a Big Kahuna Climber, 360 Degree Slide, Sloped Climbing Wall, Spider Climber, Chinning Bar, Rock Climber, Balance Beam, Curved Tensile Climber, Bumper Ladder, Four Way Animal Hop, Flippo Spring Rider, and ATV Spring Rider. Also installed were new benches, new picnic tables, two new Excavators (replacing old ones), new swings in back to replace old ones, Bongo Jungle Climber, new Bunny Hill Slide to replace old Bubble Panel, new Cargo Climber to replace Old Mirror Panel, and new Safety Surfacing for all play areas.

New swing benches were installed at the Terrace Street Park and on the green bounded by Prospect Avenue, Lincoln Drive and Harrison Street. In addition, the existing swing bench at Terrace Street was repaired. New mulch surfacing was provided for the picnic area at Terrace Street Park. Additional repairs were completed at the Creative Playground at Memorial Field.

The Committee is presently planning to improve Terrace Street Park with a revamped surface and landscaping with automated sprinklers. Also under consideration are new picnic tables, benches and swings for the Pond Area.
