The role of the Borough of Haworth Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is to mitigate, plan and prepare for emergencies; educate the public about preparedness; coordinate emergency response and recovery efforts; collect and disseminate critical information; and seek funding opportunities for support of the overall preparedness of the Borough of Haworth. The OEM coordinates the Borough's Police, Fire and Ambulance Corp. with County, State and Federal emergency responders in the event of an emergency.
In conjunction with Bergen County and the State of New Jersey, we are finalizing our emergency plan for the Borough of Haworth. This is designed so that all emergency services, Board of Health, etc. have specific guidelines in the event of a natural disaster or terrorist attack. There are several drills planned in 2007 to practice the plan.
