If you are interested in trying to protect your garden and shrubs from being eaten by deer you can find information regarding deer resistant plants on the Rutgers website www.rce.rutgers.edu/deerresistance. Keep in mind that no plant is 100% deer proof, because deer choose plants based on how hungry they are. |

The Commission would like to remind our residents to shop for recycled paper towels. Why? Because if every household replaces one roll of non-recycled paper towels with a roll of 100% recycled paper towels, it will save 864,000 trees and 3.4 million cubic feet of landfill space. More than 90% of our households use paper towels, creating approximately 3000 tons of waste per day. Find out more on www.idealbite.com.

The Commission would like to thank everyone for their help with the Town Clean Up on September 30th, 2006. We have been doing it for over 10 years. Our town has definitely benefited - looking cleaner and helping the young people become more aware of the detriments of littering.
Watch for the date of the next Town Clean Up in the fall newsletter and on this webpage.

We are pleased to report that we have successfully secured a grant from the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions (ANJEC) to update the Land Use Element and Conservation Element of our municipal Master Plan. These elements were last updated in 1992. The Borough has retained a consultant who has worked with us for many years to prepare these documents for us utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. As the project progresses, we may need a few volunteers to assist us with some of the legwork including copying, printing, distributing, publicizing, and providing input into the project.
