Please be advised that the Tax Assessor, Neil Rubenstein, has a new phone number which is 201-384-0276. His hours are still on Thursdays from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.
Beware of Misleading Mailings
A company called "Property Tax Assessment Service" has in past mailed our new residents notices, claiming that there is a "program" which will reduce your property's assessed value. Occasionally, private companies obtain mailing lists of new home sales, which is public information, and they send out notices of this kind.
Please be aware of the following:
- This notice is sent by a private company, NOT a government agency. They are not affiliated with the Borough of Haworth, Bergen County, or the State of New Jersey, in any way.
- Some of the claims made in the notice are misleading. Filing of forms of this nature with any private company will NOT automatically guarantee you a reduction in assessment. They do not have the power to do this for you. Only the Borough Tax Assessor, the County Tax Board, or the State Tax Board has the power to lower your tax assessment.
- If you have ANY questions regarding your property assessment, please speak to the Borough's Tax Assessor, Neil Rubenstein, 201-384-0276, before sending money to any private company.
